Description:
Welcome to Fort Independence Reservation Campground, our family-friendly campground in the eastern Sierra Nevada mountains.
The Park is Temporarily Closed and re-opening is planned for Spring, 2009. For more information, please call the park at (760) 878-3200.

Our park is set on the Fort Independence Reservation, an area that spans 560 acres adjacent to Oak Creek in Independence California. This area offers plenty of trails for backpacking, horseback riding, mountain biking, and off-roading. And we also have spaces for hunting, fly fishing, golfing, sightseeing, and wildlife viewing. Take a hike along our Native American Interpretive Trail, visit the historic Manzanar National Historic Site, or stay with us while you plan day trips to the Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks.

Book your campsite or RV site today with our handy online reservations system. Our park is set in the quiet town of Independence, California, just off Highway 395. We''''re not far from Bishop, Mount Whitney, and Lone Pine, where hundreds of Hollywood films have been made. Our part of the country is also known as the gateway to Death Valley National Park, making us a perfect stopping place for folks headed in that direction.

You can camp with us while you make excursions into the Owens Valley, exploring Keough''''s Hot Springs and the Eastern California Museum. You can take in the Film Festival at the Museum of Lone Pine Film History or see the antique rail cars at the Laws Railroad Museum and Historical Site. We pull out all the stops for holidays like the 4th of July, the fishing season opener in April, and our annual Mule days during Memorial Day weekend. So join us at our Sierra Nevada campground for amazing camping in eastern California!
