Description:
A paradise awaits visitors to the Friends of Malaekahana campground on the lush island of Oahu, Hawaii. Approximately 40 miles from the Honolulu Airport, off of Highway 83 (Kamehameha Highway), this gated 37 acre wooded beach park is located a short distance from the world famous surfing beaches of Oahu's north shore, including 'Pipeline' and 'Waimea Bay'. Make your reservations online, and enjoy the gentle waters of Malaekahana Bay, which are safe for all water sports, including boogie boarding and snorkeling, and whose beach is home to a population of endangered sea turtles.

An ideal campsite for a memorable Hawaiian vacation, Friends of Malaekahana offers 40 primitive campsites with picnic tables, fire pits and toilet facilities. Camping yurts with electricity sleep two to six people, and six beach houses are available to rent, with accommodations for up to 20 people. A three acre area is set aside for groups of 150 or more, with showers, portable toilets and a food preparation area, and the campground also features a four bedroom, three bath Pavilion, a great location for weddings and retreats.

Birders will find plenty of venues near the campsite, including the James Campbell National Refuge and the Moku Auia (Goat Island) Seabird Sanctuary, which is home to ten different species of seabird. The Polynesian Cultural Center features exhibits about the Hawaiian Islands, as well as the cultural history of Fiji, Samoa, Tahiti and more, and a visit to the Turtle Bay Resort will provide access to fine restaurants and golf courses. Whether relaxing on the beautiful beaches, horseback riding, hiking or shopping, Friends of Malaekahana campground is the ideal setting for a trip to Oahu.
