The Shenandoah National Park lies in close proximity to the camp as well, with over 500 miles of trails, including over 100 miles of the famous Appalachian Trail. The Skyline Drive, a 105 mile section of road that runs the length of the national park, gives travelers the perfect opportunity to see the spectacular mountain vistas that are spread throughout the region.
For a true taste of American history, a visit to Thomas Jefferson's Monticello must be on the agenda. Designed, redesigned, built and rebuilt over the course of forty years, this masterpiece of architecture is open for tours throughout the year, with Michie Tavern, another historic landmark circa 1784, located on a mountainside near Monticello.
