San Diego, on California's southern coast is an excellent west coast destination. Throughout the year the region has good weather. Visitors will find many activities to enjoy and destinations to explore. San Diego is great for winter travelers, as well as spring travelers, and throughout the rest of the year.

Visitors to San Diego can enjoy the bounty of beach activities. San Diego's beaches are great for relaxation, swimming, surfing, snorkeling and more. Sailing enthusiasts will also enjoy the waters off of San Diego. Coronado Beach is one of the best beaches in San Diego. The beach is located on the ocean side of Coronado Island. It can be found in front of the Hotel Del Coronado. Coronado Beach has the widest expanse of sand of any beach in the area. In addition to being sandy and sunny, it has a gentle surf and a year-round lifeguard making it a great beach for children, swimming, sailing, surfing, bodyboarding, fishing, beach volleyball and much more. Visitors to Coronado Beach from January to March may even catch sight of some migrating whales.

San Diego has some amazing fishing, as well as excellent beach activities. From the waters off of San Diego and south to Baja, avid fishers will find excellent deep sea fishing. The warm waters during the summer attracts lots of big fish, and for those that are interested in this type of fishing there are plenty of charter boats and guides throughout the area. At a short distance from shore, fishers can expect to find fish like Calico Bass, Mackerel, Dorado and more. Farther off shore the catch is different, and can possibly include Albacore, Yellowfin Tuna, Skipjack, Yellowtail and others. The deeper the fishing, the bigger the fish.

There are plenty of destinations and attractions for visitors to enjoy within San Diego. Children will love a visit to the San Diego Zoo. At this zoo there are wild animals from across the globe, or see the rhinos on a safari trip at the San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park. SeaWorld is another destination within the city. SeaWorld is a great spot for parents and children to learn all about the world underneath the water.

San Diego also has plenty of fun events. It is home to one of the most exciting Carnival celebrations on the West Coast. Visitors to San Diego over Mardi Gras can join the revelers in the streets to enjoy the street performances and carnival. Visitors can also collect plenty of Mardi Gras beads while enjoying the celebration in the lounges and bars of the city.

California's southern coast and the wonderful city of San Diego are a real camping gem. Visitors will find all sorts of fun activities. San Diego is filled with wonderful beaches. Throughout the city there are fun family activities, including the San Diego Zoo. Fishing enthusiasts can rent a charter to enjoy some deep sea fishing. All visitors are sure to find something to enjoy during a visit to the city.
