Amazing BBQ

Nothing says summer like the smell of barbecue cooking over the grill. From sweet and tangy sauces to spicy grilling rubs, barbecue brightens all the senses. If you've never put together your own barbecue before, why not give it a try now? These three terrific recipes will give you fool-proof -- and mouth-watering -- results.

K.C. BBQ Rub
The City of Fountains is famous for its barbecue. Whip up some Kansas City rub and you'll be grilling in no time! Top your ribs off with your favorite barbecue sauce.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup paprika
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon chili powder
2 cloves crushed garlic
1 teaspoon cayenne

Directions:
In a bowl or glass jar, combine all of the ingredients together. If you aren't planning to use it right away, store it in an air-tight plastic container.

World's Best BBQ Sauce

For thick, rich, tangy sauce, give this recipe a try. Cooking time is about 20 minutes. Note, do not use this sauce before grilling. This is to dress the meat after the grilling process is complete.

Ingredients:
1 8-ounce can tomato sauce
1 6-ounce can tomato paste
2.5 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon olive oil
3 cloves garlic crushed
4 tablespoons minced onion
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon cayenne
fresh ground pepper to taste

Directions:
In a heavy-bottomed pan, saute the garlic until you can smell it cooking. Stir in the remaining ingredients, mix thoroughly, and simmer for about 20 minutes.

Tangy-Sweet Mustard BBQ Sauce
The mustard fields of South Carolina prompted this dramatic sauce which pairs beautifully with pork. Use it as a topping for your next BBQ or grilling sensation.

Ingredients:
1 cup mustard
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup molasses
1 tablespoon oil
1/4 teaspoon powdered oregano
1/4 teaspoon powdered thyme
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne

Directions:
Add the dry ingredients to a saucepan and gradually stir in enough vinegar to make a mixable paste. Blend well. Place over high heat and add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring less often. Store the sauce in the refrigerator in an air-tight container.
