While in Dahlonega, stop by Cherokee Indian Princess Trahlyta's grave and read about her tragic story. GA 60 and US 19/GA 9, nine miles north of Dahlonega.
Amicalola Falls State Park, (hiking, backpacking, fishing, picnicking, waterfall viewing. Try a stretch of the Appalachian Trail). From Dahlonega take Rte. 9 west to Rte. 52. 706-265-8888

James H. Floyd State Park, Chattahoochee National Forest (boating, fishing, camping). From Summerville, turn off Hwy 27 onto Rte. 100 south. About three miles. 706-857-0826
