 Explore the region of Katahdin, Maine’s highest point (5,267 ft.) at Baxter State Park. The Native Americans dubbed the four peaks of Baxter, Pamola, Hamlin, and Howe, Katahdin, or "greatest mountain." Hike the rugged hillsides, watch for moose in the many ponds, or view the peaks from afar. At Lily Bay, explore the shores of Moosehead Lake and try fishing for trout or salmon.
