LEWIS & CLARK

Nebraska
LEWIS & CLARK

Explore the bluffs and rolling hills of the Missouri River, a land crossed by Lewis and Clark on their travels north. Visit Ponca State Park, named for the Native Americans who once lived there. In 1879, Standing Bear, a Ponca Chief, won a landmark case in Omaha that found that a Native American must be considered a "person" under U.S. law. Look for red and gray foxes, bobcats, owls, deer, and wild turkeys, or fish for bass, bluegill, and walleye.
