The United States is filled with strange and unusual places to visit. Some of these places are tourist attractions and others are just the creations of people and their own personal interests. Here are some of these strange places across the United States that make great destinations.

Winchester Mystery House, California
The Winchester Mystery House has to be one of California's most unique destinations, probably one of the most unique location in the country. This house was built by Sarah Winchester with the legacy of the Winchester rifle. After the deaths of her child and husband Sarah Winchester started adding all manner of unique architectural features to her home. Some speculate that she created the house to ward of ghosts. Visitors will see twisting hallways, secret passageways, and even doors that lead to nowhere.

Dog Bark Park Inn, Idaho
This Bed & Breakfast in Cottonwood is actually located in the World's Biggest Beagle. Those visitors that stay at the Inn enter the Beagle through their personal second story deck. Within the Beagle there are all sorts of amazing furnishings many made by the creators of the dog.

Santa Claus, Indiana
Any visitor to Indiana that loves the culture and excitement of Christmastime, should come to Santa Clause, Indiana. This town is filled with the excitement of Christmas throughout the year.  The town features the amusement park, Holiday World & Splashin' Safari, as well as the Santa Claus Land of Lights, Santa's Candy Castle and much more.

World's Largest Hockey Stick, Minnesota
The World's Largest Hockey Stick is located in Eveleth, Minnesota. It is accompanied by a large puck. Both of these are enormous and make for a great photo opportunity. This destination was once located at the Hockey Hall of Fame, which is now closed, but the giant hockey stick and puck remain for visitors to Minnesota to enjoy.

The Atomic Testing Museum, Nevada
This Museum is a great place to learn about the history of atomic testing in Nevada. There are a wide variety of exhibits about the different types of testing that were done in Nevada. The Atomic Testing Museum is a very interesting destination for those that want to learn more about nuclear testing in the country.

Enchanted Highway, North Dakota
The section of road between the towns of Regent and Gladstone is known as the Enchanted Highway. Visitors that drive the miles of this road will be delighted with the many amazing roadside attractions. One man conceived the idea to create the sculptures to create the Enchanted Highway. Now visitors can enjoy a variety of different works along the miles of the road. One of these sculptures is the World's Largest Grasshopper. Travelers can also see the world's largest metal sculpture, which is called "Geese in Flight." The Tin Family is also an impressive metal structure, with the boy holding a sucker and the Mother with her barbed wire hair. Other sculptures along the Enchanted Highway include a sculpture of Theodore Roosevelt, a sculpture titled "Deer Crossing," the "Pheasants on the Prairie" and more.

World's Largest Basket, Ohio
Dresden, Ohio is home to the World's Largest Basket. The town is filled with basket attractions beyond the World's Largest Basket. Visitors to Dresden will find a Welcome Center with a Gift Shop, The Longaberger Homestead and touring the manufacturing campus of Longaberger Baskets is also a fascinating experience, and there are plenty of other basket related and other activities to enjoy in the area.

Amarillo, Texas
A stop in Amarillo will take visitors back to the era of the Old West, the town is surrounded by many ranches that work nearly the same today as the did in the 1800s. Visitors to Amarillo should make sure to stop for a meal at the Big Texan Steak Ranch, which is no longer located on the original Route 66, but started its history along the highway. This restaurant still offers the free 72-ounce Steak Dinner for customers who can eat it in less than an hour. As you leave Amarillo keep your eyes peeled for The Cadillac Ranch. The Cadillac Ranch was founded by Stanley Marsh, 3, the Texas millionaire as a piece of art outside of Amarillo. Visitors are welcome at this historic piece of Texas art.

Cockroach Hall of Fame and Museum, Texas
This Plano, Texas destination makes for a great tourist stop in Texas. Visitors here can see live cockroach, some dead roaches and interesting collections of cockroaches formed into famous people, and fun poses. This is a true curiosity and as long as you're not afraid of bugs, it is a lot of fun.

Ye Olde Curiosity Shop, Washington
Located on the downtown Seattle waterfront, the Ye Olde Curiosity Shop is a must see destination for all visitors to Seattle. The shop is filled to the brim with amazing and quirky curios. These curios are displayed throughout the store, some even hang from the ceiling. Visitors come away from the shop with unique souvenirs of Seattle. Be sure to keep an eye out for the shop's resident Mummies.
