This historic setting provides some wonderful opportunities for outdoor activity, including watching the water wheel of the old fashioned grist mill as you head out to tour one of our nature trails. Get the whole family together for some fly fishing in the creek, or head to nearby Cowans Gap State Park for a picnic lunch, swimming or hunting (in season). You'll also be sure to enjoy the Pennsylvania Dept. of Transportation's 'S' bicycle route that leads through the hills and groves of the state park.
When you are ready to venture a little further from camp, you'll want to head toward the majestic Lincoln Caverns and Whisper Rocks, which have amazed visitors since they were first discovered in 1930. A tour will lead you down into the earth to see the fantastic cave rooms, crystals and stalactites, and you'll even have a chance to pan for gems. Many other worthwhile excursions are yours to enjoy when you come and stay a while at Ye Old Campground, your Allegheny Mountains home away from home. |
