Rhode Island

Rhode Island

Rhode Island
The Ocean State
It may be the smallest state in the nation, but Rhode Island packs a lot into its 1,214 square miles. Little Rhody has thousands of acres of parkland, hundreds of miles of coast, and over 400 public beaches. Wild and wavy Narragansett Bay touches nearly every part of Rhode Island, from Providence to Newport, Warwick to Watch Hill. As a result, nearly every settlement is a fishing and shipping community, complete with its own rocky shoreline and chowder house.
Bring your beach towel and sun hat to Rhode Island. This is the land of beaches, ocean waves, and sea breezes. Wherever you go, the sounds and scents of Narragansett Bay will touch you. This is an excellent place to look for shore birds like plovers, ospreys, gulls, and terns, or to try your hand at surfing or surf fishing. Rhode Island's towns are full of history, from the mansions of Newport to the colonial sites of Providence. So put yourself into an Ocean State-of-mind and prepare to relax in tiny Rhode Island.
