10,000 years ago, the glaciers that had covered this area melted to form rivers, streams, and lakes. What remains is a mix of bluffs and boulders, prairie grasses, woods, and waterways. Lake Kampeska is a prime example of a crystal-clear glacial lake. Play on its beaches at Sandy Shore, or try the fishing on Lake Cochrane. Pretty, tree-ringed Mina Lake offers a cool getaway on hot summer days, plus excellent fishing for pike, walleye, perch, and bass.
