The best of northern Texas is at your doorstep when you stop at Lake Athens Marina and RV Park, just east of Athens near the intersection of Hwy 175 and Hwy 19. The amenity-packed campground offers a convenient online reservation system and plenty of spacious RV sites with full hook ups, big enough for up to 40 foot rigs with two slide outs. Located on the Marina of Lake Athens, considered one of the premier fishing lakes in Texas, the park is centrally located, providing big city services and a secluded, peaceful camping experience.
The campground is situated adjacent to the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center, a fascinating aquatic nature center and hatchery operated by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. With interactive exhibits and programs, the center allows guests to learn about and explore the wide range of plant and animal species that inhabit the rivers and reservoirs of Texas. The East Texas Arboretum, also in Athens, gives a glimpse into the diverse plant life of the region and is a beautiful place for a leisurely stroll.
The nearby city of Tyler, just 32 miles north of the RV park, offers a variety of shopping, attractions and museums for excursions outside of the park. Of course, no trip to the Athens would be complete without a day's fishing on the world-class lake. Fed by creeks and a large number of springs, the clear water is the premier spot to cast line and catch some of the many bass, crappie, catfish and perch, all within feet of your home away from home at Lake Athens Marina and RV Park. |
