Located off of I-10 and Hwy 17 in west Texas, Saddleback Mountain RV Park, in Balmorhea, is an oasis in the wilderness that will surprise and delight. An ideal travel stop when on the Designated Scenic Drive to Fort Davis or the Big Bend, the campground offers many full hook up RV sites, as well as a convenient online reservation system. Saddleback Mountain, the landmark of the Texas Century Weinacht Ranch, owned and operated for over a century by the Weinacht family, looms in the backdrop of the RV park, a lovely setting for a memorable vacation.
This amenity-packed facility offers campers a convenience store and gas station, as well as a café, the Circle Bar and a rally room for private dining. Also on the grounds of the campground is a Texas native garden, which provides the perfect spot for nature lover's to see the flora and fauna of Texas up close. The ¾ mile hike through the garden reveals native vegetation, a butterfly garden and many species of birds (over 300 have been documented).
For an excursion off camp, Balmorhea State Park is not to be missed, featuring Balmorhea Lake, year round activities and the San Soloman Springs, which for thousands of years has provided water first to Native Americans, and then to Spanish Explorers and soldiers. Visitors to the area still reap the benefits of the spring, in an enormous man-made swimming pool built over the source. This chemical free pool is an ideal place to swim, snorkel or scuba dive in the spring-fed, clean and clear water, and is only a few minutes from your home away from home at the Saddleback Mountain RV Park. |
