Idaho
SOUTH CENTRAL
Called Idaho’s "Magic Valley," this area encompasses the Snake River Plain’s southern-most segment. What once was a bleak, desert-scape when it was crossed by Oregon Trail Pioneers, this area is now lush farm-country thanks to the miracle of irrigation. This area produces Idaho’s famous potatoes as well as sugar beets, barley, peas, dairy cattle, and beans. Reservoirs entice boaters and windsurfers, while white-water rafters will find plenty of thrills on the Milner and Murtaugh reaches of the Snake. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
